“The Future for Breeders”

Sunday 4th February 2024

 The National Show Centre, Cloghran, Dublin.

 

10am; The official Irish Kennel Club signing of the RFG licence in conjunction with the Royal Kennel Club and Cambridge University.

 

10.15am; Introduction of Ian Finney as Lead Assessor/ Coordinator for the Irish Kennel Club followed by a demonstration of BOAS testing and a discussion on the scoring scheme.

(Break out training for vets and BOAS testing on completion of this talk)

 

11am; Wenche Charlotte Lagmo (FCI & NKK) to discuss the importance of co-operation between Breeders, Kennel Clubs, Vets, FCI and all stakeholders. Raising awareness for Breeders of their responsibilities regarding the Health of their puppies. The consequences of the Norwegian Court Case for Breeders.

 

12 Noon; Introduction from the Irish Kennel Club Judges Committee of Judges Education Module 5, presentation of the IKC Breed Specific Instruction for Judges and powerpoint display of the Breedwatch Video.

 

Break 12.45 to 1.30pm

 

1.30 pm; Dan O’Neill (Leader of the Vet Compass Programme and Chair of the Brachycephalic Working Group UK) to talk about Breeders Best Practices the future health concerns affecting breeds.

 

2.30 pm; Presentation by Paul Flynn, Head of Research & Development at Weatherbys Scientific on Canine Genetic Testing.

 

3.15pm; Discussion on new EU proposals of Animal Welfare and questions and answers across all topics.
