Points of Information for Members.

Tail Docking

From 1^st January 2025 in accordance with FCI Rules the dogs with cropped ears/docked tails, belonging to breeds for which no reference is made to the cropped ears/docked tail in the FCI Breed Standards, will not be allowed to be shown at any IKC Licenced Show.

The Breeds concerned are;

• Dobermann
• Boxer
• Rottweiler
• Giant Schnauzer
• Schnauzer
• Miniature Schnauzer
• German Pinscher
• Miniature Pinscher
• Neapolitan Mastiff
• Great Dane
• Cane Corso Italiano

Irish Legislation re docked tails.

The Board would like to remind members of the Statutory Instrument 125/2014 -Prohibition on Tail Docking (Dogs) Regulations 2014

Subject to Regulation 4, a person shall not remove or cause or permit another person to remove the tail or part of the tail of a dog.

For the purposes of section 16 of the Act, a Veterinary Practitioner or a Veterinary Nurse may remove the tail or part of the tail of a Pointer, Spaniel or Terrier in respect of which a declaration must be completed by the owner or person having possession of the dog as well as a Veterinary Practitioner or Veterinary Nurse.

Native Breeds Group.

From 1^st January 2025 the Native Breeds Group is no longer compulsory to schedule.

The Group will be scheduled at the IKC Show in March.
